The Fédération Internationale du Sport Pour Tous (FISpT) and the Association of Olympic Committees of Portuguese Official Language (ACOLOP) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding establishing a new framework for cooperation to support the sustainable growth of Sport for All programmes across the Lusophone community and the wider Olympic Movement. The agreement also strengthens collaboration between FISpT and ACOLOP’s National Olympic Committee members in areas including events, development, communication, partnerships and international visibility.

ACOLOP is an international non-profit organisation linked to the Olympic Movement, officially established in Lisbon on 8 June 2004. It brings together Olympic committees from Portuguese-speaking countries and communities and is also known for promoting cooperation through sport, including the organisation of the Lusophony Games and related international activities.
Through this Memorandum of Understanding, FISpT will provide ACOLOP and its members with access to international Sport for All events, new partnership opportunities with international organisations, expanded media reach, added support for Sport for All member federations in the Lusophone world, and training and development opportunities during ACOLOP activities, including the Lusophony Games and ACOLOP webinar initiatives. The agreement also confirms ACOLOP as an Associate Member of FISpT free of charge.

In return, ACOLOP and its National Olympic Committee members will support FISpT through their own media and partner communication channels and will assist in identifying and recognising the appropriate national members in countries where an ACOLOP National Olympic Committee is active. The partnership also creates opportunities for ACOLOP and its members to host high-profile international Sport for All events promoted by FISpT.
ACOLOP members include the Olympic Committees of Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Goa, Mozambique, Macau, Portugal, São Tomé and Príncipe, Timor-Leste and Sri Lanka.

Marco Tomasini, CEO of FISpT, said: “This Memorandum of Understanding with ACOLOP is an important step in expanding the reach and impact of Sport for All across the Portuguese-speaking world. By working closely with ACOLOP and its member Olympic committees, we are creating new opportunities to promote participation, inclusion, community wellbeing and international cooperation through sport. FISpT is proud to support this shared vision and to help strengthen Sport for All programmes throughout the Lusophone community.”

FISpT is the international federation responsible for the world governance of Sport for All programmes. It currently has 120 member associations representing Sport for All programmes and their athletes in more than 54 countries, and it is recognised by the International Olympic Committee.
The signing of this agreement reflects a shared commitment by FISpT and ACOLOP to use sport as a tool for development, cooperation and social impact, while opening new pathways for joint initiatives throughout the Lusophone world and beyond.
