FISPT - FEDERATION INTERNATIONALE DU SPORT POUR TOUS

The International Federation Sport for All (FISpT) was founded on April 3, 1982, in Strasbourg, at the Council of Europe, with the adoption of its Statutes and the official establishment later confirmed during the first Board of Directors meeting on February 24, 1984. Since its inception, the Federation has positioned itself as a key reference point for the promotion and development of Sport for All, an international movement dedicated to making physical activity accessible to everyone, regardless of age, ability, or performance level.

On February 24, 1991, FISpT submitted its first application for recognition to the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The complete documentation package was finalized and officially deposited in October 1994.

During the IOC Executive Board meeting held in Atlanta from December 14 to 16, 1994, FISpT received provisional recognition as the international federation representing the Sport for All movement. This decision was formally communicated by IOC President Juan Antonio Samaranch on January 5, 1995, confirming the outcome of the Board’s deliberations.

On January 12, 1995, FISpT President André Van Lierde sent a letter of appreciation to the IOC President, highlighting the valued support of Walter Tröger, President of the IOC Sport for All Commission, who had been strongly committed to developing joint activities with FISpT in the field of Sport for All.

In June 1995, during the 104th IOC Session held in Budapest (June 15–18), FISpT was granted full and definitive recognition by the IOC. This was officially confirmed by a letter dated June 15, 1995, signed by IOC President Juan Antonio Samaranch.

The Congress held on the 12-13 of December 2003 confirmed André Van Lierde as president.

 

During the Extraordinary General Assembly of the 23/26 May 2008, the federation had been relocated from the Molendal 26, 1700, Dilbeek , Belgium to Bahrain. The new elected president is Isa Mohamed Abdulrahim Mohamed Alrafaei.

President André Van Lierde concluded his mandate after 26 years.

In 2009, the Federation completed the registration in Bahrain, entering a new stage of international expansion and organizational development.

The Congress held in Milano in April 2011 re-elected Isa Mohamed Abdulrahim Mohamed Alrafaei as president. See the press release.

In 2022, coinciding with its 40th anniversary, FISpT modernized its logo for the first time since its foundation, embracing a renewed visual identity to symbolize its growth and global mission. The new emblem was officially adopted in 2023.

On November 28, 2023, FISpT inaugurated a new stage of digital development and communication, enhancing its visibility through social media and web platforms, and securing the institutional domain sportforall.sport, recognized within the global sports and Olympic ecosystem.

Finally, on January 24, 2026, the Federation moved its headquarters to Italy and was officially registered in Rome, marking the beginning of a new chapter focused on organizational consolidation and the continued promotion of Sport for All worldwide. See the press release here.
